From the 5000 Miles Book Launch …
Today we are sharing something beautiful from the #5000Miles book launch which took place at Square Chapel Arts Centre last month …
At this time of year it’s important to remember those families who live with conflict, separation and fear and Desmond from Yr 6 Beech Hill Primary gives his poetic thoughts on migration, flight and leaving your family behind to escape the darkness and persecution:
Away Away
Still shrouded in darkness
Leaving me with my own family
Just to feel my mothers silky hair
or soft skin
to hear her voice
so delicate
Life is not golden
But if there was a place that was
It would be in my mothers arms
Away from the beast
Away from the trouble
Away from the darkness
Away Away
In my mothers arms
Where life is golden
Where the ‘Guli’ can be safe
Please be a dream
Don’t let it be real
Away Away
Many thanks to the amazing Big Lottery Fund for their support
